Cody began serving with Midway Baptist Church in 2004 and is now the Minister of Education focusing on Sunday School, adult Bible studies, small groups, and other teaching responsibilities. Cody also works for Bluegrass Community & Technical College as the Associate Director of Financial Aid and an adjunct professor in the business department. Carrie, his spouse, works at the University of Kentucky as a Wellness Coordinator. She is also a certified yoga instructor and teaches classes in Versailles. Cody and Carrie are both completing doctoral studies. Carrie is finishing an Ed.D. in Exercise Physiology and Health Promotion at UK, while Cody is finishing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development at the University of Louisville, although he remains a true blue fan. When at home in Versailles, they enjoy spending time with their dog, Blackjack. Cody has published two Youth QuickPaks with Smyth and Helwys.

Cody was born in Stanford, KY and is married to Carrie from Benton, IL. He attended nearby Georgetown College, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Communication Arts and Religion. While a student, Cody served as an intern student minister at First Baptist Church of Frankfort and Midway Baptist Church and was a member of the President's House Association. He as served on the Baptist Student Union's Executive Council as Fellowship Coordinator, Freshman Family Coordinator and President. Also, Cody participated in missions in Chile and El Salvador as well as the Georgetown College Summer Missions team, a church plating team in Bridgewater, Massachusetts and as a Bible Study Leader for PASSPORT camps. In 1999, Carrie and Cody met while serving in New England. Upon graduation, Cody and Carrie were married and attended seminary at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. Cody completed a Master of Divinity and a Master of Business Administration, while Carrie completed a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care and Counseling. He also worked for Gardner-Webb University as the School of Divinity Admissions Counselor. Cody and Carrie also served as Ministers to Students at Lattimore Baptist Church in Lattimore, NC, where they were both ordained.
